This paper traces the evolution of airtightness testing technology from the birth of helium mass spectrometry leak detector of the Manhattan Project in 1943 to the present 80 years, analyzes the differentiation of pressure drop method, flow method and other technical routes, focuses on the waterproofing needs of smart phones and the development of new energy vehicles to promote the explosive growth of the industry, and points out that the Chinese manufacturers have been from the introduction of technology to the output of innovation, and the airtightness testing has become the invisible cornerstone of the quality control of the modern industry.
